In 1945, J.K. Long Sr. started Broad Street Bonded Warehouse, Inc. and Carolina Cotton
Classing. They represented a few companies in North Carolina by buying, classing and delivering
cotton. An H.V.I. line was purchased which automated the classing department by running a mill's
approval samples prior to the shipment. Cotton can now be classed by micronaire, grade, staple,
strength, uniformity and color which would help to give mills a more consistent understanding
of their fibers. We have grown to handling a volume of over 400,000 bales per year, with two
warehouse locations. Although the cotton industry is our main area of expertise we have expanded
our warehousing facilities to include all goods.
Broad Street Bonded Warehouse remains a family owned and operated organization with a long
term goal of customer satisfaction.
